This week President Biden declared a state of emergency for the state of California due to a string of storms (a.k.a. Atmospheric River, Bomb Cyclone) that have caused extensive flooding, damage and loss of life in several of the state’s counties.

From Long Beach to Santa Barbara and San Francisco, surfers were taking advantage of the high tides and large swells produced by these tremendous storms.

Studies show that extreme weather is likely to become more frequent and/or intense as a result of climate change.
