Smartwool Wants To Recycle Your Old Socks

Smartwool has announced a plan to become more sustainable by 2030. Their 10 year plan includes goals to use 100 percent climate-positive wool and 100 percent regenerative materials and be 100 percent circular by 2030.

As a step towards circularity, Smartwool is partnering with Material Return to launch the Second Cut Project sock take back event.

Starting on April 21, 2021 Smartwool will collect used socks from any brand at specialty retailers nationwide and online. These initial donations will be re-purposed into a filling for dog beds, which will be available for purchase at Smartwool.com during the 2021 holiday season.

Here’s How You Can Recycle Your Old Socks with Smartwool:

  1. Drop off your unwanted (but clean) socks in marked bins at participating retailers from April 21 through May 2, 2021.

  2. Starting on April 21, 2021 you can request a pre-paid postage bag to send in any socks you wish to recycle while making a purchase at Smartwool.com.
